There are many different paths that one can take to become a network planning engineer. Typically, however, one will need to have at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.

Additionally, experience in network administration or another related field is often helpful. There are various certification programs that one can go through to become a certified network engineer as well, which may be beneficial to potential employers.

To sum it up, becoming a network planning engineer generally requires at least a bachelor’s degree along with some relevant experience; although various certification programs may also be helpful in landing a job.

They Generally Incorporate Three Essential Steps 

Topological design: In this stage of planning, Engineers determine and optimize the network area along with the switch, cost, and connectivity parameters of the network providers.

Network Synthesis

Here they determine the size of network components along with GoS (grade of service). The cost of transmission is also determined in this phase 
Network realization: This stage calculates an actual physical circuit plan.  Network Planning Approach

Creating a backup plan to maintain connectivity during  network outages. Manage network tools across related departments.

Education
Specific educational requirements depend on the needs of your organization. To be successful in this area, you need to have a significant degree in telecommunications, computer science, IT, and related fields.

  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) – Datacenter
  • CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert)
  • JNCIA/JNCIS (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate or Specialist)
  • VCP6-NV (VMware Certified Professional 6 – Network Virtualization)
  • AWS- Associate (Certified Solutions Architect)
